Other than Hannibal there is nothing. He was the only interesting part but he wasn't even the main character or villain. This buffalo bill character had absolutely no development and his reasons were never explained. He wanted to turn into a woman. Okay. Thats an interesting idea but it came out of nowhere and we not at all developed. Clarice was EXTREMELY dull. She had no personality or character development. I feel like the writers noticed that half way through the movie and just threw in the story about her on the farm with the lambs to make her seem more interesting and she cried like she was so broken up by it. But showed absolutely no emotion before that to show that she had a troubled passed. So that was weird. But even as I watched it I thought that maybe this was something she had bottled up and now it was released and she would be become a better nope. After that she went right back to be dull plank of wood type character. So what exactly did this movie have. As far as plot goes it was nothing special enough to make up for the lack of character development so I don't understand why this movie is so grossly overrated. Did not deserve the oscars it got. Thats for sure.

Anthony Hopkins gets around 16 minutes of screen time, but he delivers by creating one of the most iconic movie characters of all time.
The movie set up is good, but nothing special. It is truly Dr Hannibal Lecter who brings this movie to the level of greatness. The dialogue is fantastic, the acting of Hopkins and Foster is excellent and the dramatic climax in Buffalo Bill's house is excellent as well.
It is not the most though-provoking, action filled or dramatic movie, but whit it's dark understanding it is captivating and gripping and has an unsettling power.
10/10.
